Nick Bosa to Be the Face of You Gen X Jeans
COLUMBUS, OH - San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa has been named the official face of "You Gen X Jeans," a new denim company that promises a return to "uncomplicated, traditional American values."
The multi-year endorsement deal, announced Saturday, will see the Pro Bowl edge rusher featured in a series of print and digital ads celebrating the brand's "heritage" line of classic, “insanely straight” leg jeans that love both women and God.
"We were looking for someone who embodies the spirit of our brand," said You Gen X Jeans co founder, Eunus Album in a press release. "Someone who isn't afraid to stand his ground, who has a strong sense of legacy, and who appreciates the simple, powerful statement of a good, honest pair of jeans voluntarily immigrating here after the 1600s. Nick was the obvious choice."
"These aren't just jeans, they're a movement," Bosa said in a statement. "They're about getting back to basics, to a time when things were clearer. They just feel right. Pure. It’s a great fit, in every sense of the word.”
While the company has been praised in very specific online circles for its "brave, unapologetic stance," the announcement has been hit with criticism. When asked about the brand's slogan, "Woven From a Stronger Fiber," Album seemed taken aback by the suggestion that it could have a double meaning.
"We're a denim company. We're talking about cotton," Album said, adjusting his own pair of crisp, heterosexual jeans. "Some people are trying to twist this into something it's not. We're simply offering a product for discerning customers who feel that the market has left them behind. It’s about taking back what’s ours… Jeans. This is a jean for the silent majority."
