Shedeur Sanders Awarded Inaguural FIFA NFL MVP Award
WASHINGTON, DC — In a historical move, FIFA president Gianni Infantino presented the first ever FIFA NFL MVP Award to Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders during Friday’s 2026 World Cup Draw.
Infantino unveiled the silver-plated trophy, a laminated certificate of authenticity (for legal reasons), and a commemorative medal, then delivered a speech:
“This is your trophy, and the haters can never take it away… even though many will try because they have hate in their hearts and never wanted to see a young man succeed, because they're haters.”
Reporters pressed the FIFA president on why the global governing body of soccer was suddenly presenting an award for American football.
Infantino, without blinking, replied:
“We are literally the International Federation of Association Football. Why would we not be the most qualified people on earth to hand out football awards?”
He went on to insist the award was absolutely not created solely for Shedeur Sanders, before immediately clarifying that:
“Shedeur will, of course, remain the only eligible recipient until he retires, at which point we will retire the award in his honor.”
